Bantam Coach, Paperweight Coach and Director of Coaching Director - Mike Hamilton

Mike is a new addition to the West Durham program and will bring his vast lacrosse experience to us and help grow our game. Mike has two children, Audrey (2) and Theo (4) that are in their early years with West Durham.

Playing Career:

  • 1998 - Founders Cup Champion and Rookie of the year - Green Gaels

  • 2002 - NLL - 51st overall Draft pick - Ottawa Rebel

Coaching Career:

  • 2010-2014 - Toronto Stars started in D division in Bantam finished in Midget
  • 2015-2016 - Newmarket Saints Jr. B - assistant coach
  • 2016 - 2019 - Team Ontario U-18

  • 3 Time Brogden Cup Champions


Bantam, Paperweight and Director of Player Development – Scott Fitchett

Scott is new to West Durham this year and has two children, Lewis (3) and Miller (1) that are just beginning their careers with West Durham minor lacrosse. Scott is well known in the lacrosse world considering his 29-year involvement with the game, which saw him play and coach at all levels of the game Minor (A, B, C, D, E), Junior (A, B), CUFLA, Senior (A, B). Prior to joining West  Durham Scott Coached 8 years with the Toronto Stars where they helped a team grow from a "E" team to an "A" team.

Midget Coach --Lucas Renzetti

Lucas is a West Durham Ironheads and West Durham minor lacrosse alumni and we are lucky to have him back in the program. Lucas brings a unique skillset that will enable our Midget Program to the next level.

Playing Career:

  • 2017,2018,2019 u18 field national champion with team Ontario
  • 2019 team Ontario u18 Captain
  • 2 time Brogden Cup Champion
  • Currently attending Everest Academy
  • Scholarship to Davenport University in Michigan NCAA DII
  • Drafted by six nations arrows in the 2018 OJALL draft
  • 2 years of junior a with Barrie, 1 season with the WD Ironheads
  • Current member of the Oakville Buzz

Tyke Coach- James Long

James has been a member of West Durham Lacrosse for the past 5 years. He has 2 children who play within the organization; Daniel (10) and Grace (8). James has served as an assistant coach in the Tyke and Novice divisions during his time with West Durham. His teams have achieved great success including winning several tournaments, the 2017 zone 6 'B' Championship, and Novice field finalists for the 2019 season.  In addition to lacrosse, James has coached teams in basketball, volleyball and softball for more than 25 years. James is currently a teacher in Toronto teaching 7/8 grade.


Novice Coach- Jeff McConkey

Jeff has been with West Durham Lacrosse for the past 3 years.  He has held various positions within the organization as parent, coach and board member.

Jeff background includes coaching Football within the Durham Dolphins Football Club and minor football in Ontario for 15 years. Jeff has a son Colton (9) and daughter Cali (7).

Jeff sits on the West Durham Board as Director of Sponsorships.

Jeff grew up in Pickering area playing minor soccer and football.  He currently is part owner of Notion construction management.

Peewee Coach and VP of Rep - Ryan Tupling

Ryan has been with West Durham Lacrosse for the past 5 years.  He has held various positions within the organization as parent, coach and board member.

Ryan has two sons, Ben (10) and Jack (8) that both play in the program.  He currently sits on the West Durham Board of Directors as Vice President.  Ryan’s background includes playing CIS hockey and coaching minor hockey/lacrosse for the past 5 years.

Ryan grew up in Orangeville playing lacrosse and hockey.  He currently lives in Ajax and works in sales for Hain-Celestial.
